Process / Stages
Stages
- Consultation & measure We talk occasion, comfort priorities, and budget range, then take a full set of measurements. Photographs or garments you already love help us understand proportion without copying another brand’s pattern.
- Cloth & notion plan You select fabric from our sample library or supplier catalogues. We confirm interlinings, zippers, and buttons before ordering so the silhouette matches the hand of the cloth.
- Pattern & muslin A paper pattern is drafted or adapted, then a muslin (toile) is sewn for the first fitting. Seams stay basted so we can shift balance without cutting your fashion fabric yet.
- Cloth cut & build Once proportion is agreed, we cut your cloth, baste structure, and sew toward a near-finished state. A second fitting checks sleeve set, waist, and hem candidate length.
- Finish & press Hand work closes openings where machines would show, buttons are set, and the garment receives a final press. You leave with care notes and an invitation to return for seasonal tweaks on our own work.
Process / Timing
Timing you can plan around
Simple dresses and shirts often complete within three to five weeks after cloth arrives. Jackets and coats need more canvas time and usually span six to ten weeks depending on fittings. Rush timelines are rare; we would rather decline than deliver unfinished structure.
Saturday appointments exist for clients who cannot visit on weekdays. Email or call to reserve a slot so the cutting table is clear and samples are pulled for your brief. Deposits secure fabric orders; balances are due at final collection unless we agree otherwise in writing.
